HAMSTER (Issue Ono)
The Physics Room
When asked, "Do you believe?" the contributors to HAMSTER Magazine Issue Ono, explored questions of fidelity in art, social ecosystems, canons, niche histories, posession and collaboration, knowledge production, and the experience of wairua.
The Physics Room is a contemporary art space dedicated to developing and promoting contemporary art and critical discourse in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Physics Room commission, edit, and publish HAMSTER Magazine; an experimental serial publication supporting critical writing and creative approaches to cultural production in Aotearoa. Attending to various concerns throughout its 7 issues, the 2020 issues Ono and Whitu feature work that responds to the question, “Do you believe?” The Editorial Group of Jamie Hanton, Hamish Petersen, and Michelle Wang organise these experiments with format, content, and distribution with support from Keren Oertly Ryan and Audrey Baldwin.
HAMSTER Ono was designed by Erin Broughton and printed by Allied Press in Ōtepoti as a 32pp full colour tabloid on 52 gsm newsprint, with a cover design by Jess Thompson-Carr.
